New Members Info

Welcome NEW Members to the
Fort Lauderdale Area Chapter of LPGA Amateur Golf Assn

We are very happy you decided to join this national golf organization for women who want to pursue golf.   Here is some information to help you get started.

For the very beginner golfer:
If you have never played golf before, you will need to take some lessons.  On our website you will find a link to the Get Golf Ready program.  At the bottom of the page you will find a link so you can search for courses in our area that offer this program.  The approximate cost is $99 for 5 lessons.   Also, check out what clinics and lessons we are offering to our members under LEARN.

Once you are ready to go out on the course, a great way to get started is to contact Michelle Florea (Golf@LPGAamateursFtLaud.com).  As our Assistant Director of Golf, Michelle organizes weekly golf and can guide you to a group for beginning or new golfers.  She can also help by sending you info on pace of play, golf etiquette and some rules of golf.

For the beginner golfer who has taken some lessons and is ready to go out and golf:
Click on the monthly calendar to find out where our chapter has set up golf outings.  You will see a link to the person who is hosting the event.   Simply email the host letting them know you want to play.  Please let the host know you are a new member so they will be looking for you.  Also look for our weekly golf email that comes out every Sunday for upcoming play.

We have a fun Nine and Unwind every Thursday at Deer Creek Golf Club, where everyone meets in the clubhouse after golf.  The cost for our members is $20.  Please note that the summer tee time is 5:30, but from October until Spring this group tees off as early as 3:30 or 4:00.   Contact Kiki Leedy (mailto:karen.leedy@gmail.com) to get on her distribution list and RSVP by Wednesday at noon if you want to play.

Once you begin to play on a regular basis you will need to establish a handicap.  A handicap can be established by posting a minimum of 5 scores on the webpage.  If you need assistance contact Linda Davis (Handicap@LPGAamateursFtLaud.com).

For the intermediate or advanced golfer:
Click on the monthly calendar to find out where our chapter has set up golf outings.  You will see a link to the person who is hosting the event.   Simply email the host letting them know you want to play.  Please let the host know you are a new member so they will be looking for you.

We have several weekday leagues or groups you may be interested in joining.  They include the Broward Summer League and Broward Winter League, where we have a Chapter team for competitive play.

Golf Education:
Golf education is set up for golfers at all levels.  Please check out clinics and lessons under the LEARN tab of this webpage.

Please contact me if you have other questions or concerns. You can also print out this list of our chapter leaders for future reference. Once again, welcome to the Fort Lauderdale Area Chapter!
